Mother’s Day – Here Already?

Hello everyone – hope you are all enjoying the weekend!

Sunday May 8, Mother’s Day, is fast approaching and Dharma thought she’d help you out with a few ideas in case you were struggling.

There’s always the safe bets – brunch, fancy socks, a day at the spa – but there are lots of other ways you can show mom how much you appreciate her and everything she does for you!

If you don’t live in the same area as your mom, of course you can send her flowers, but what about a cookie bouquet or bright colourful batch of balloons!  Imagine opening the door to that – what fun!  It doesn’t always have to be practical, you know…

But for sure if she’s out of town, you must get a card in the mail early in the week so she gets it in time – it’s the least you can do!

If we’re talking about a mom with an active family and a full schedule, what about a day off?  And I mean, a day off… You could start with breakfast, including a very clean kitchen at the end of it, and then tackle all the household chores that normally fill her day.  Taking on the errands would be helpful too, and would completely free up her day – what a treat!  Finish it all off with dinner and cleaning up afterwards.  It might sound like a lot, but remember, this is what her life looks like every day!

How about a fun filled day out of the house?  A picnic in the park, a stroll through a popular shopping district, a trip to the farmer’s market?  We’re well past winter vegetable season, and now is when the good stuff comes out!

If you’ve got a mom who has everything, instead of adding to the clutter, how about tickets to an upcoming concert, musical or play?  Sometimes the gift of “experience” can be more enjoyable than something else to dust.

If you’ve got a sentimental mom, how about putting together an online photo book?  There are a million different programs for this, you just need to hit up Google.  This might take a bit more time than you have if you’re aiming for next weekend (delivery is usually a week or so), but maybe something to keep in mind for next year?

Hopefully some of these suggestions help you out – and please feel free to add other ideas in the comment section below.  The main thing is to make sure you’re on the ball, get organized, and let your mom know how much you love her!

Have a great day!

How about something creative for the artsy mom, like a one day painting class with a local artist, a jewelry making class or a cooking class? If you live in the same city you can go, too and it will be twice as nice!
