More Than One Trick Pony?

Dear Dharma,

I’ve been with my husband about 10 years now, he’s my soul mate and we are a very happy couple.

We have an excellent attraction to one another, but there is a problem…in the bedroom. He suffers from some nerve damage, the result of a broken back quite a long time ago.

Because of this damage we are limited to one position, and quite frankly I’m starting to feel bitter about all the “fun” I’m missing out on. I’ve got a lot of years left in me for lovin’ and I need to find a solution to this problem.

I’d really appreciate your input on the situation.

One Trick Pony

Dear Pony,

Because we all know Dharma’s not a doctor, I have no legs to stand on whatsoever when I say I can’t believe there is one position, and one position only, that works for you and your husband!

Have either of you talked to a physical therapist about this? Or, less daunting, perhaps – have you Googled this?

Because I just did (ha, can’t wait to see what shows up in my email tomorrow) and I found this one called Lower Back Pain? These Will Be Your New Favourite Sex Positions!

Positions. Plural.  Which gives me hope.

Of course, I don’t know if it’s lower back pain your husband has – and I did note that this article focuses more on the female point of view – but nonetheless, this quick search tells me there’s info out there if you want it.

And it sounds like you do – or at least, you should, because doing some research has got to be a better option than feeling bitter about the situation.  Especially when it’s very likely you have options.

So take them!
